In this article, we will guide you through the installation process of a protection kit on the Diablo, Hadean and GTR models of your Evolve electric skateboard.

The installation process of the kit is the same for the all-terrain version (electric mountainboard) and the street version (electric longboard).

A protection kit is essential to protect your motors from impacts and prolong the lifespan of your skateboard. Follow these steps for a correct and effective installation.

Necessary tools

  • Y-Tool provided with your skateboard
  • Clé Allen 1/8 provided with your Y-Tool
  • Medium strength threadlocker (we use Loctite 243, but any medium strength threadlocker will do)

Steps to install the protection kit

1. Preparation

Check the contents of the kit

Check the kit contents: Two protection kit brackets (marked L for left and R for right), three protection bars, and ten screws (four short and six long).

Separate the screws

To avoid any confusion during installation, separate the short screws from the long screws.

2. Remove the Wheel and Belt Guard from Your Electric Skateboard

Remove the wheel: Flip the board on one side and use the Y-Tool to remove one of the wheels.

Remove the belt guard: Use the 1/8 Allen key to remove the belt guard, the belt, and the gear.

3. Installation of the Protection Kit Supports

Identify the supports: The supports are marked L (left) and R (right) to indicate their respective position.

Apply the thread locker: Apply a small amount of thread locker to the parts of the screws that go into the protection kit bars.

Attach the supports: Use two short screws to attach the protection kit support on the side where we have not yet removed the wheel.

4. Reinstallation of the wheel

Put the wheel back in place : Reposition the nut on the wheel axle to balance the board when you turn it over.

5. Repeat the Operation on the Other Side

Repeat the previous steps: Remove the wheel, the belt guard, the belt, and the gear, then install the protection kit bracket on the other side.

6. Installation of the protection bars

Align the bars: Slide each bar into position, aligning the bar with the support hole starting with the bar closest to the axle.

Apply threadlocker: Apply a small amount of threadlocker to each screw (long screws) before installing them.

Secure the bars: Tighten the screws well to secure the bars in place. Then screw the bars on the other side.

7. Finalization and verification

Tighten the brackets: If you have loosened the brackets to facilitate the installation of the bars, make sure to screw them back in properly.

Reassemble the components: Put back the gear, belt, belt guard, and wheel. Tighten all components well to ensure a secure installation.

Conclusion

Tighten the brackets: If you have loosened the brackets to facilitate the installation of the bars, make sure to screw them back in properly.

Reassemble the components: Put back the gear, belt, belt guard, and wheel. Tighten all components well to ensure a secure installation.
