Below twelve knots, a regular kite struggles to stay in the air. Light wind kites are the answer, thanks to their low weight. These can be large inflatable kites that relaunch easily, or strutless foil kites that fly in very light air and are perfect for foiling. As of October 5, 2026, our inflatable selection includes the Duotone Juice 2026 and Juice D/LAB 2026, the single-strut Duotone Mono 2026, and the strutless Slingshot UFO V3. For foil kites, we carry the Flysurfer Soul 4 2027 and Supersonic 2025.
In light wind, your board is just as important as your kite. A larger twintip, a high-volume surfkite, or a foil will get you riding earlier. The light wind section of our guide to choosing a kitesurf kite explains these setups in detail. All kites are in the main kites section.
