The ION Sonar 2022 is the original generation of this ION seat harness, designed from the ground up for foil and foil racing. It features a low profile, a partially Curv structure, and climbing-inspired leg straps. This is an end-of-series model, since replaced by the Sonar 2025: the product's core intention remains the same, but the price is now much more attractive.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
It all starts with a low profile.
ION designed the Sonar with one key principle in mind: lowering load transmission. The hook sits low on your pelvis, transferring traction through your legs and lower back instead of your waist. This makes all the difference at the end of a foil racing session, especially when you're holding a course for extended periods with constant power.
Partially Curv structure
Curv is the composite ION uses for its harness shells. On this model year, it covers only part of the structure. This is enough to distribute force across the entire support surface and provide back support, without making the entire harness rigid. The rest of the construction maintains flexibility.
Leg straps borrowed from climbing harnesses
The leg straps are designed like climbing harnesses, a product family where you remain suspended for long periods. They allow your legs to move freely and prevent pressure points on your inner thighs. This addresses a common flaw of poorly cut seat harnesses.
Spectre Bar, Downforce_Loop, and safety
This generation's Spectre Bar is thin and light, hook included. It comes with the Downforce_Loop, a strap that prevents the bar from riding up and keeps the hook in a low position. The harness also includes the Kite_Knife Multitool 2.0 and the HPL_Slider.

FAQ
What is the difference from the ION Sonar 2025?
The 2025 model features a lighter hybrid shell. It also adds a lumbar pad and a Spectre Bar 2. The 2022 model retains a partially Curv structure, a low profile, and the Downforce_Loop. The spirit is the same, but the construction has evolved.
Why is this harness cheaper than the current model?
This is a 2022 model, an end-of-series item. The product is new and unused. It is simply no longer manufactured. The discount applies to the brand's recommended retail price.
Why a seat harness rather than a waist harness for foil?
It does not ride up. The leg straps lock the harness to your pelvis. The traction point remains low, which the Downforce_Loop reinforces here. When foiling with continuous pull, this prevents the bar from ending up under your ribs by the end of the session.
What size ION Sonar should you choose?
Sizes range from 46 (XS) to 54 (XL). They are based on hip circumference. For an end-of-series item, it is best to call first. Sizes sell out and are not restocked.
What comes with the harness?
The Sonar 2022 comes complete. It includes a spreader bar with hook, a Kite_Knife Multitool 2.0, a safety leash handle, and an HPL_Slider.
