DETAILED DESCRIPTION
A Front Wing for sending it
The Pop D/LAB isn't about glide; it's about height. Its low to medium aspect ratio, around 6.9, delivers explosive lift and total control in powerful conditions. This is the opposite of a downwind Front Wing: it's short, wide, and stable, designed to build speed and then convert it into amplitude. It won on the GWA Freestyle World Cup circuit during its development phase.
Speed before take-off
The profile is fast and low-drag, with camber and thickness distributed for acceleration. The idea is simple: the higher your speed at the moment of the pop, the higher your trick. This Front Wing lets you build speed without stalling or feeling heavy, then converts that energy directly into height and amplitude.
The locked-in feel
The outline features an elongated central chord that shifts the center of lift forward. This results in constant front foot pressure at all speeds. Take-off becomes predictable, flight is stable, and landings are controlled. Compared to a surf-oriented Front Wing like the Carve 3.0, the Pop offers more stability and pop, at the cost of less fluid glide and less supple carving.
A construction that takes a beating
The Pop is constructed from high-modulus and intermediate-modulus prepreg carbon, with an increased fuselage section and carefully optimized lamination. In freestyle, the landing load is what breaks equipment. This structure prioritizes strength and stiffness over weight reduction. A Front Wing that flexes on landing makes the landing unpredictable.
The Monobloc F165 tail
Duotone developed a dedicated stabilizer, the Monobloc F165 tail, designed for freestyle and high-speed kite foil. Combined with the 3BS+ connection and its fourth screw, it provides maximum pitch stability and precise control at all speeds. The wing and tail together determine the behavior, not the wing alone.
Choosing between 650 and 800
The 650 cm² Front Wing, with its 66.9 cm wingspan, is the top choice for Duotone team riders. For lighter winds or heavier riders, the 800 cm² Front Wing, boasting a 74 cm wingspan, delivers increased lift. Both share the same profile and an aspect ratio of around 6.8 to 6.9.
